WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

VOLUNTEER SHOW CORPS

The Grand Show Corps currently has over 200 volunteers, and we continue to grow thanks to people like you!

The Grand Opera House is a multi-level theater that presents world-renowned artists and a wide variety of entertainment. The baby grand is home of live at the baby grand as well as various community groups. The Playhouse on Rodney Square is home of Delaware's Broadway Experience.

The majority of our shows are scheduled in the evenings with some weekend afternoons. We also have occasional student performances during weekday mornings and afternoons.

Each member of the Show Corps is assigned to a squad and each squad is assigned to a show. Squad responsibilities include ticket-taking, ushering, coat-check, bartending, and patron safety. On average, each squad is scheduled three to five times a month. Those who are unable to volunteer during the weekdays due to full-time employment will not be asked to do so. Every volunteer is required to work all 3 theaters based on assignment.

You may be aware that The Grand does much more than create great performances in two beautiful, historic theater settings. It also provides community education programs such as the Stages of Discovery school matinee series, the Summer Explorers at The Grand, and Summer in the Parks in our community that introduce live performance to over 35,000 children and families – the next generation of Grand patrons. It also partners with many community organizations to stage more than 400 events annually.

Please fill out the Show Corps Application and return it to The Grand Opera House. You will be contacted as soon as a date has been determined for the next orientation. In the meantime, please call the Show Corps office at 302-658-7897 ext. 3607. We look forward to meeting you!
